Unsure of species
im currently deep into my first grow and on the verge of harvesting, and today when i woke up i realized the mushrooms ive been growing this whole time are not what i thought they were. i purchased multiple syringes from ITW and am currently fruiting what is supposed to be AA+ however none of the caps are turning white so i suspect its a different type entirely. can someone help me identify?

Hey! The species is Psilocybe Cubensis. But you're right, the strain is not Albino A+ for sure. Maybe vendor mixed up the labels. Or, perhaps you mixed up the labels/syringes during inoculation — this is quite common case :)
For reference: genus (Psilocybe) -> species (P. cubensis) -> strains, including hybrids/crosses/isolations (AA+, Golden Teacher and 200+ others...
It seems like Golden Teacher, B positive or Blue Meanie to me. But it's hard to id them accurately by eye, just my guessing. If you're curious you can walk through the huge graph with over 200 strains of P.Cubensis with photos here: Mushroom Genetics Tree
Here are photos of all the strains I've mentioned above:
Albino A+
Golden Teacher
B positive
Blue Meanie
P.S. If you are sure this is the seller's mistake, try to contact them and clarify it. They can make an exchange

im positive it was a syringe that was labeled A+, but now i think it might be B+ that was labeled wrong. youre right its hard to tell for certain. thank you for all the info, this site has been my go-to throughout my grow. i also have a secondary question, its hard to tell in the pic but ive noticed dozens of smaller pins just starting to grow so i wondered if i should pick the larger ones early to allow the rest of the pin set to grow without stalling. any advice is appreciated.

B+ is good as well; it might be a pretty positive mistake :)
Sure! You can harvest them partially as they mature.
