Hey Jack! Could you pls clarify:

  1. Is this your very first time growing mushrooms?
  2. Are there 2 different cakes in the photos?
  3. Is this the very first flush?
  4. How many days has it been since spawning to bulk and introducing fruiting conditions?

What would I do in your case? I’d rehydrate the cake in water. You can do it right in the tub. Just pour in cold water, fully submerge the cake, and let it sit for about 2 hours. Then remove the water, provide fruiting conditions as before and wait.

More details and examples here: Mushroom cake rehydration

A crack is not a problem for fruiting ;-)

I’d fully submerge the cake in (freezing cold!) water and let it soak. You can soak one or two cakes and spray another one to compare the difference.
