Weak 2nd flush

Wondering what i might've done wrong for my 2nd flush to turn out like this. The ones growing around the edges look great but it's barren in the middle. My 1st flush turned out fine, I soaked the brick in water for a few hours before putting it back in the tub. This is my 4th or 5th grow so any advice would be appreciated 🤠

Hello!

Loose mycelium and mushrooms are thin with small caps. So as a first hypothesis, it could be a bacterial or yeast contamination.

Do you feel any smell (sweet-sour, cider, rotten, like eggs or fermentation odor)?

Did you make this cake by your own? Or did you use pre-made ingredients?

If you have photos of your 1st flush, please share some

i get a kit with grain, spores and dirt all separate, then combine the grain and dirt mix once the grains innoculated enough. The brick right now smells like rich earth, no sour or rotten smell at all. First 2 pics are from today, i think they're ready to harvest. Other pics are my first flush.

Yes, your shrooms are good and ready for harvesting.

If no bad odor, it's fine!

Note for the future! When you mix grain with dirt (it is called spawn to bulk) always cover the top of the cake and all visible grains with bulk substrate (about 1cm or 1/3 inch)

Although you can add a thin casing layer on the cake even now or use this trick for the next grow. Check out this part: Casing
