Are these mushrooms moldy or okay?
These are reishi mushrooms, grown in a grow bag from Booming Acres, I had emailed them asking if the mushrooms were moldy or not and they wouldn't give me help said to post a forum or ask a friend. I posted on reddit and a few people replied saying moldy so I threw away then told the company, they responded saying they weren't moldy and that was normal reishi formation and I should have asked a more reputable forum. I thought they were modly because the grow bag had some black sptos that liquid shot out of but after looking at Google Ai to research it may have been normal. i'm just frustrated they wouldn't help me when I had first asked. I threw them out I didn't feel safe consuming after reddit's replies.

Hey, they don't look moldy at all! What you have is only thick Reishi mycelium. The fruits on your block haven't yet started to form. There are only 2 pins that tried to form fruits. Anyway, you can use such mycelium as a regular fruits, no problem.
Was it your very first experience in mushroom cultivation?
Do you know exactly which Reishi species you’re growing?
Depending on the species their mycelium (and ofc mushrooms) may have different colors: red, yellow, brown or even black.
Let me show you a few examples (see photos in attachment in better quality). All of them are Reishi, but they are different species. And all of them are absolutely healthy :-)
If I post all these photos on reddit, people will 100% identify them as contaminated lol
Ganoderma lucidum (Red Reishi) with healthy red spots during bulk substrate colonization:

And bright red fruits during fruiting:

Ganoderma sinense (Black Reishi) with healthy brown and black spots:

Ganoderma multipileum (Antler Reishi) with yellow-brown-red color of mycelium and fruits:

And here is moldy area in Red Reishi fruiting block:

Here is mold on Antler Reishi (Ganoderma multipileum) fruits:

Hope this info will be helpful :-)
P.S. Also this Day-to-day Reishi growing diary will be helpful for your future attempts with reishi ;-)
