Dark Bruising? - Bad Mushroom question

Hey all, Beginner grower here. After many failed attempts, I finally got a harvest! However, I am not sure that these are safe to consume, they certainly dont look or smell very inviting. They were severely bruised when harvesting, again I'm a new at this, and then they turned this very dark brown color. Plus there is a horrible smell, like an old wet shoe. Maybe it's a kind of earthy smell, but I've never smelled mushrooms like this. I dried them out and they just seem pretty avoidable to me, just wanted to get some thoughts from professionals. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome on forum 🙌

Your shrooms look fine. Bruising after harvesting and beige-brown color after drying them is absolutely normal. Maybe they are not perfectly dry, that's why you feel a strong earthy smell.

What was your drying method? How long did you dry them? Are they completely dry, like fruit chips? Do you have photos of shrooms before drying them?

Here are a few helpful links for you as a beginner. Highly recommend to check them out ;-)
