ABV growth stall or normal growth?

Hi everybody,

I just made my first monotub grow of ABV in CVG substrate that started really good but now it seems like i am having problems with overlay and growth stall, i know its a slow growing variety but just want to make sure whats going on. I just increased FAE today by opening holes in the tub on 2 out of 4 sides and increasing the lid crack on the top. i had it 18 days in colonization and its now 3 days into fruiting. I would really appreciate your opinion or suggestions what to do next or should i just wait it out.

Photo 1 - 1 week into colonization Photo 2 - 18 days into colonization, start of fruiting Photo 3 - today, 3 days into fruiting

Thank you and have a great day,

Fresh

Hi and welcome on forum!

What is ABV? Psilocybe Cubensis Albino Bluey Vuitton or anything else? There are currently >1000 strains/hybrids of P.Cubensis, and none of these names are scientific. They were just made up randomly lol :-)

Yes, some areas look like early Overlay. Could you tell me pls what type of genetics did you use? Was it an isolated culture (isolated culture on agar or isolated liquid culture) or spore syringe? Did you make grain spawn and CVG by your own?

Kind of 'stalled growth' after providing fruiting conditions is absolutely normal ;-)

Open ALL the air holes and cover them with breathable tape or micropore tape. The 'lid crack' on the top also should be covered with micropore tape. It works as a protection against airborne contams. It's especially important, since the top layer isn't fully colonized yet and prone to mold contamination.

Also try to avoid water pools and water drops on the mycelium, and misting on the mycelium directly. If water accumulates on the lid, try this WD-40 trick - this method helps prevent water drops from forming on the lid and falling onto mycelium

Let's check your cake in 2-3 days again, okay?

All the best, Shroomok

Hello, and thanks for the quick reply. Yes, its Psilocybe Cubensis Albino Bluey Vuitton. I used isolated liquid culture. I had the grain spawn sterilized and inoculated in a mushroom lab and i made my own CVG and left it in a sterile container for 12h before i mixed it with spawn. I am not currently misting at all because it seems like the tub has enough moisture. I even had to take some moisture away with a syringe because it accumulated on the bottom under the plastic layer due to condensation. I already replaced all holes with micropore tape when i went to fruiting and i thought it would make sense to completely open 2 sides of 4 but i see now its not wise due to contamination so i put the micropore tape back.

Will report back in 3 days and thanks for the info,

Fresh
