So this is my first attempt at lion's mane. I have to 5# bags of grain spawn. I had checked them a few days ago and they were thin wispy and not fully colonized. Checked today and it looks like they're pinning! Have I waited to late to put them to bulk? Zeferina answered: Lion's mane love to fruit prematurely. I have this happened to me as well. Its mycelium is wispy by nature, so your spawn was probably fully colonized before you knew it. But it shouldn't be a problem. Just mix your spawn into your substrate, the pins will usually be absorbed into mycelium.
