  I wonder if chopping the moss up changed something? The moss I purchased came in a highly compressed brick and I had to hydrate it to break it up. After that it was very coarse so I chopped it up a bit to be closer to vermiculite consistency. I misted generously and so far no indication of growth on casing later but there's definitely lots of pins starting on the sides!
