Hi, I am just switching from cakes to bags. I had quite success with cutting the cakes (2-3 cm slices) and placing them on coco bulk and cover the slices also with coco (40 x 60 x 7 cm). Looks great and smells great so far, 0 contamination etc.

So my bags are ready in a couple of weeks and I was asking myself if I should "mix" the bags 1:2, 1:3 with substrate or if I should try to cut the bag-blocks similar to the way I proceed with the cakes.

Does anyone have experience or recommendations with "substrate-layer" instead of "substrate-mix" ?

Делаю Spawn to Bulk в монотуб. В период колонизации (когда все отверстия закрыты и нет воздуха) нужно монотуб држать в темноте? И какую температуру держать и влажность в этот момент?

Hey @Dude we have 2 main periods in mushroom cultivation: colonization and fruiting.

We use styrofoam box as an incubator for COLONIZATION period (to boost and speed up mycelium growth on grain substrate in jars/bags). We don't need FAE here. We need FAE for FRUITING period in fruiting chamber (i.g. growbox or monotub).

You can learn the difference between an incubator and a fruiting chamber on this page at the very beginning ;)

Hey Shroomok, what a great site you got here! 🔥

I couldn't find any hydrated lime for the casing layer so I got calcium carbonate instead. My question is, how much of it should I use going by your recipe? Should I use the same quantity as with hydrated lime or should I double?

Hello, I'm growing Tattoo shrooms and I don't know how to tell when their ready to harvest because as you know, they don't have or you can not see any gills to watch for breaking the veil.?

My 2nd question is: A blue tint started to form sporadically, so I don't know if this is bad, and if I should harvest now and cut the blue out.?

My 3rd question is: If there is blue starting to form in the middle of the cake, can I still try for a first flush.?
