1) Try to gain pressure in a PC slower. Be sure jars do not knock against each other during sterilization process. Let the PC cool down before opening.
2) After inoculation with spore syringe it takes 5-15 days for the first signs of mycelium.
3) Dry grain test: when the jar tilted or shaken slightly, the grains crumble and move easily, like in a baby rattle.
What to do in this case? Sometimes adding sterile water with syringe through inoculation port (15-20 ml) can help.
4) One more reason of zero growth is possible contamination. Check the jars for any signs of powdery bright colored mold growth and check the smell through the air filter (or open one of the jars to check the smell) for bacterial contamination (sweet-sour-cider-rotted smell).

I followed your instructions closely and used mason jars with lids, filters, and injection port. I properly hydrated and sterilized the rye grain. I had some trouble sterilizing the jars in the pressure cooker and had to start it over a couple of times, and about half of my jars broke during the process. Yes, I had the protector on the bottom of the PC as well. This is my problem. After injecting the spores, I see no growth at all after over a week. I think I may have dried out my grain in the PC. Is there any fix to this problem that you can advise?
You talk about metabolites being "clear color", while showing a picture of amber colored fluid. Then scrolling down, you talk about amber colored wet bubble disease.
The more and more I look into how all of you are growing these things, I notice none of you actually knows 100% what you're talking about. Just a bunch of guessing with success, and then all of you preach that your way is the only way.
Its fungus... its mold.. mold easily grows. it's not rocket science, and none of you really knows what you're doing.
@Cat O’Rourke you have just 2 shrooms on your mushroom cake?
I need more details about your growing process, cultivation tek, what strain?

Curious; the filters aren't HEPA filter-rated.... surprised these have enough filtration
Also; you do get decent laminar flow from these? I guess since you don't have any contam issues it must be fine. Did you use the filter that comes with the fan at all?
Is this really panaeolus cyanescens? A couple of months ago I went out to collect mushrooms in my field, and I found about a kilo of these mushrooms, but I could not verify that they were safe to consume since I did not know their species. And using a mushroom app, it told me that they were toxic, so I decided to throw them away 😭😭😭
I read your whole article. Haven't found much micellium yet. It's dry in So Cal, Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley. So I mist them and alcohol them. Try not to get to clumpy or soggy. Hard to find a happy medium. But I found some old grow dung dirt with old spores and hooked them up outside and the freshies will grow in my towel closet in the bathroom. Then I took some pieces of P.E. shrooms and,1/2 top and 1/2 stem and crumbs from bottom of bag, and it has micellium growing. That's in my bathtub. If I have success,I will have 9 kids of shrooms. I'll be praying hard. ❤ I'm a 67 year old lady baby boomer. I love shrooms for every reason....💋🤙🏼💎💃🏼🎬

Found a better filter; MERV 16 (HEPA's are rated at MERV 17) - this one has the same form factors as the ones you posted too, including thickness

Found a higher rated filter that might work better; maybe it's overkill but it does have a higher MERV rating
